Fairfax County Nicole Mittendorff’s car was found abandoned in a parking lot of the Shenandoah National Park. She was 31 years old, loved her dog and her job. What would result from the subsequent investigation when her body was found would be controversial. Hopefully, the legacy she has left behind will improve life for many other female firefighters.

These were a set of murders that were committed by an apparent serial killer along the Colonial Parkway in Virginia between 1986 and 1988. Sadly, all of the victims were in their teens and 20s at the times of their deaths or disappearances. The killer has never been identified.
